King County Election Night Primary Results 2021
Most King County voters saw at least a handful of races on their August primary ballots. Here's where things stood on election night.
KING COUNTY, WA — King County's August primary drew more than 200 candidates vying to secure spots on the November ballot, and election night provided the first glimpse at how dozens of races are shaping up.
Three positions on the Metropolitan King County Council garnered enough candidates to appear on primary ballots, along with the King County Executive race, several city council contests and a handful of mayoral match-ups. The primary included any race that drew more than two candidates for the same seat, while those that had fewer headed straight to the general election in November. All King County voters also saw Proposition 1, or the "Best Starts for Kids Levy," which is up for renewal.
King County Elections projected 40 percent of the county's 1.4 million voters would participate in the primary and estimated more than half of the ballots cast would be delivered or postmarked between Monday and Tuesday. Vote tallies will continue to change in the coming days as later ballots are added to the totals.
