RENTON, WA — King County Elections will begin mailing ballots Wednesday to more than 1.4 million registered voters for the 2021 general election. Voters should see their ballots in the mailbox no later than Monday and will have until Nov. 2 to return them via mail or at one of the dozens of drop boxes located around King County.

This year's election features several key races, including contests for King County Executive, four open positions on the Metropolitan King County Council, the Seattle mayor's race and city council seats up for election in several cities. A handful of communities, including Renton, will see local ballot measures, too.

The vote center opens Wednesday morning at King County Elections' Renton headquarters and will be available to assist voters in person through Election Day. More vote centers are scheduled to open around the region by late October. Residents who still need to register to vote, or update their address and other personal information, can do so online until Oct. 25, and in-person up until the polls close.

Here are the key dates to remember for the 2021 General Election:

  • Oct. 13: Ballots mailed to registered voters.
  • Oct. 14: Drop boxes open across King County.
  • Oct. 25: Deadline to register to vote or update information online
  • Nov. 2: Election Day: In-person registration is possible until polls close at 8 p.m.
