Major Accident Closes Maple Valley Highway In Renton

RENTON, WA - A major accident closed Maple Valley Highway in both directions Sunday afternoon. The collision involved three vehicles. Police had to close the highway for hours to investigate the cause of the accident.

The accident happened at 4:30 p.m. Sunday near a bend in the road near Classics Sports Bar, about halfway between I-405 and the Maplewood Golf Course. The road was closed heading eastbound near the Renton Community Center, and was closed Westbound near Maplewood Roadside Park. The road wasn't reopened until about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Police did not indicate there were any fatalities related to the crash. However, multiple people injured in the crash were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and Valley Medical Center.

This is the second major accident in Renton this weekend. On Saturday around 6 p.m., nine people were injured in a multiple car crash near 140th and SR 169.
