RENTON, WA — The Renton Police Department arrested a man early Monday after investigators said he barricaded himself inside a home with his family, shot at responding officers and set the house on fire. Police arrived at a home on the 11400 block of Southeast 177th Pl. just before 3:15 a.m., after receiving reports of a distraught family member barricaded in an upstairs bedroom with a gun. Investigators said the man's relatives called 911 after they began to hear gunshots.

As officers arrived, police said the man was firing his gun out the window and begin shooting in their direction. Officers evacuated the other family members from the home along with several neighbors.

Within a few minutes, police said a fire alarm went off and smoke began to pour from the second-floor of the house. The flames quickly spread through the home. Video posts on social media by local media outlets showed flames visible from the street Monday morning.
