Man Carjacked At Gunpoint In Renton Park During Meetup

RENTON, WA - The police department is urging residents to use safe meetup sites - like the police station - when buying or selling items through sites like Craiglist in the wake of a recent armed robbery.

Police say a local man was carjacked on Wednesday at a local park when he went to meet someone to sell an item. Instead of meeting a buyer, he was confronted by four armed men who stole his wallet, phone, and BMW.

Luckily, they were able to track down the car and arrest two suspects in connection to the robbery, police said.

"This is a reminder to us all about the importance of a safe exchange location. Next time you decide to sell or buy something online (Offer-Up, Craigslist, etc.), please consider conducting your exchange in your local police department’s parking lot," the department wrote on Facebook.
