More For Everyone At This Year's Renton Art Walk
On August 20, downtown Renton will be alive with artists showcasing every medium, music, dance and activity. Here's a sneak peek.

Renton Arts enthusiasts have a treat in store for them later this week when the expands its horizons in downtown Renton for the 6th annual event on August 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The event promises something for art and cultural enthusiasts in every way imaginable. There will be art in every medium including oils, acrylics, watercolors, wall sculptures, jewelry, and much more. Also new this year will be dance, music, and performances by international groups—highlighting the diversity in Renton.
“This year's walk will be bigger and better. More activities, new artists, and more music,” said Andee Jorgensen, a board member from Allied Arts of Renton.

Showcased at the Art Walk will be nationally recognized artists, Ned Mueller of Renton and Washington state Bob Bryant. Mueller’s work includes drawing, landscapes, seascapes, plein air work, and still lifes. Bryant is known for his original maritime oil paintings and work about those who love a lifestyle on sea.
Several artists will be on hand creating at their easels during the event, including Bryant and artist Austin Dwyer of Mukilteo, who will also be signing copies of his book "The Ring of the Piper's Tune.”

The Art Walk is a collaborative effort between three active groups in Renton: Allied Arts of Renton, Arts Unlimited, and Piazza Renton.
“We are hoping for a city full of art and fun on the 20th,” said Linda Middlebrooks, president of Piazza Renton, and member of Allied Arts of Renton. “We hope that people will walk through town, eat lunch at one of the downtown restaurants and then continue to enjoy events and art throughout the city.”

Many downtown businesses plan to offer discounts and prizes during the event, and the biggest freebie of all will be the chance to win a $1,050 valued oil painting donated by Mueller. The free drawing will take place at .
The Renton Art Walk organizers see this event as growing every year—possibly even to a two-day event, and a perfect way to showcase downtown Renton and talented local artists.
“In this time of stress and trouble, the arts give us a way to get our perspective back. We can be wide-eyed and delighted by new ways of looking at the world,” Jorgensen said.
Also on display during the event will be several paintings that will be available at auction later this month at .
