“Settle on any one principle and stay with it, then consciousness can be reoriented toward stillness.” Chip Hartranft, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
I’ve experimented with several methods of meditation. I’ve tried guided visualization, mantra (chanting), walking meditation, sound meditation, but the one that I have always returned to is breath meditation. For me, breath meditation is the key to neutralize distraction. Any distraction. My body hurts; return my attention to my breath. I feel overwhelmed by my to-do list; return to my breath. I’m running late and feeling upset; return to my breath. I’m in yoga class hoping to forward bend with straight legs; return to my breath.
I have opportunity with every aspect of my daily life to bring attention to my very being.
