UPDATE: Northbound I-405 Collision At NE 44th Causes 5-Mile Backup Now Cleared
An early morning collision that caused a 5-mile backup has been cleared.

UPDATE: Feb. 23, 2012 at 8 a.m.
The accident has been cleared and all lanes are open to traffic.

On February 23, 2012, at 6:48 a.m. on I-405 northbound just south of NE 44th St. (MP 7) in Renton there was a collision that continues to block the left center lane. Medical Aid, Fire Assistance, the Incident Response Team, and the WSP have arrived on the scene. Traffic is backed up five miles. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and allow extra time to reach their destination. The HOV lane is open to all drivers approaching the scene. Patch will update this post as more information become available.
