Woman Critically Injured Crossing Renton Street
The accident happened outside of Kenneydale Elementary before 7 a.m. Wednesday.

RENTON, WA - A woman was critically injured Wednesday morning while crossing the street in front of Kennydale Elementary school.
The accident happened before 7 a.m. Wednesday in dark, rainy conditions. Renton police say the woman, who is in her mid-50s, was struck by a 68-year-old man driving a car. The man apparently did not see the woman, who was wearing dark clothing.
The accident closed down Northeast 28th Street in front of Kennydale for more than an hour.

Police do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Earlier reports indicated that the woman died after the accident, but police on Wednesday afternoon clarified that she is at Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
