Police said a 52-year-old woman was fatally struck by a driver Monday evening after she stepped off a bus near NE Sunset Blvd.

RENTON, WA — Renton detectives are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed a fatal crash Monday evening, after a driver hit and killed a woman then sped away from the scene. In a news release shared Wednesday, police said multiple 911 calls reported a car hit a pedestrian near Northeast 12th Street and Northeast Sunset Boulevard just before 7 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses told officers at the scene that a woman had just gotten off a King County Metro bus and was attempting to cross Sunset when she was hit. Police said the victim, a 52-year-old Renton woman, died at the scene, and the driver left the area.

From debris and videos, detectives were able to identify the vehicle involved as a white Ford hatchback. On Tuesday, two sergeants from the traffic division found a white Ford Focus with matching damage in a parking lot along Duvall Avenue Northeast, police said.
