Photos: Renton, Skyway Firefighters Battle Apartment Fire
The fire broke out Friday afternoon in an apartment complex in Skyway.
RENTON, WA - Renton firefighters assisted King County Fire District 20 in putting out a fire in an apartment complex along 71st Avenue South in Skyway Friday afternoon.
Resident Takisha Lockridge said the fire started in her apartment inside a wall near her buzzer box. The fire started, she said, after she plugged in her hair dryer.
"The fire was going up the wire," she said referring to the wire connected to the buzzer box.

Lockridge ran out of the apartment and called the fire department, she said.
Although still quite smoky, firefighters appeared to have the fire under control near 2 p.m. Friday. The apartment complex is located in a residential neighborhood west of Renton Avenue, near Skyway Park.
