Police Confirm Renton Shooting Was Self-Inflicted
Renton police on Wednesday released new details about the Tuesday shooting in the downtown area.

RENTON, WA - Renton police on Wednesday confirmed that the man who shot himself on Tuesday in the downtown area committed suicide. Police initially reported the shooting as likely self-inflicted.
"The victim in yesterday’s shooting did pass away from self-inflicted gunshot. He does not live in the area and we are unable to determine what brought him to Renton. There is clear evidence that this was a suicide. There is no danger to the public," Sgt. Christy Matthews wrote on NextDoor Wednesday.
The suicide happened along the 100 block of Wells Avenue near the intersection of North 1st Street on the northeast side of the Cedar River.
