Police Investigate Threats Made Against Newcastle School

Police were called to Risdon Middle School Monday after someone left three threatening messages over the weekend.

NEWCASTLE, WA — Staff at Newcastle's Risdon Middle School called police Monday morning after discovering three threatening phone messages left on a school office line over the weekend, according to police.

Officers arrived at the school around 7 a.m. Monday.

Police said each message was less than 10 seconds long and appeared to have been left by the same person, with a voice that sounded like a teenager's. The messages' content included threats telling people not to come to school, and talked about "shooting up the place." According to investigators, no specific students or staff were threatened by name.
