Renton Illegal Street Races Force Local Street Closures
Renton police will soon begin closing local roads to curb illegal drag racing matches.

RENTON, WA - Renton police will close several local roads beginning this weekend to curb illegal street racing. The closures will begin Friday night and will last indefinitely.
Police are focusing on two stretches of roadway for now. The streets will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. every Friday and Saturday night. People conducting business along the streets will be able to enter at police checkpoints.
The closures will be weather dependent, which means police will only close the roads on dry nights when conditions are favorable for racing. The affected roads are all between Ikea, I-405, and SR 167:

- Oaksdale Avenue Southwest between Southwest 16th and 41st streets
- Southwest 27th Street between Lind and Oaksdale
