Renton Police Investigate Reports Of Medical Child Abuse
Two children were placed in protective custody Wednesday, while detectives investigate claims of abuse.
RENTON, WA — Police are investigating a 31-year-old Renton mother after employees of a Seattle-area hospital reported concerns about potential medical child abuse, according to law enforcement.
In a news release, the Renton Police Department said the hospital employees found the mother's repeated reports of her daughter's poor health were inconsistent with their findings. After reviewing the girl's medical history and reaching out to other facilities, detectives said they uncovered a pattern of similar behavior at several locations.
Police said detectives are still gathering evidence in the case, and the girl and an older sibling will remain in protective custody until the investigation is complete. More details will be available at a later date if the investigation results in an arrest or criminal charges are filed.
