Renton Police Warn Of Phone Scammer Posing As Officer
Renton Police said several people contacted them after receiving a suspicious call Thursday.

RENTON, WA — Renton Police are warning residents of a new scam phone call in the area after several reports came in Thursday afternoon. Police said dispatchers took calls from at least ten people who said they received voicemails from a man claiming to be Sgt. Paul Summers and requesting a call back. Sgt. Summers is a real police officer, but Renton PD said he did not place any of the phone calls in question. Renton Police said investigators are still working to determine the motive of the caller.
In the past hour dispatch has recieved approx 10 calls from the public advising a Sgt. Paul Summers needs an urgent return call. Sgt. Summers has not made this request. At this time we don't know the intent of the caller. But do not call spoofed #425-200-5857/cm pic.twitter.com/QKb2ydUCKp
