Renton Sinkhole Update: Rainier Ave Reopens
Rainier Avenue through Renton reopened Friday afternoon after crews repaired a large sinkhole.

RENTON, WA - The famous Renton sinkhole is no longer.
Renton officials reopened Rainier Avenue South around 3 p.m. Friday. City crews worked for more than two days to repair a sinkhole along the 900 block of Rainier. The closure cut off a major artery between Seattle and Renton, clogging local roads.
The sinkhole opened Wednesday morning and appeared as a small hole in the pavement. But when crews pulled back the asphalt, they found a large pit that was 15 feet deep in some places.
