Renton 'Stop And Swap' Aims To Reduce Waste
Bring your unwanted items to this event — your neighbor might find a use for them.
RENTON, WA — If you just bought yourself a brand-new lawnmower or grill, you might be contemplating a trip to the dump. But, there's another option.
Renton's Solid Waste Division is holding a "stop and swap" event this weekend. You can bring certain old or unwanted items where they might get picked up by a neighbor or a local nonprofit. The event is meant to keep usable items out of the waste stream.
The event also acts as a sort of way-station before the dump. If you bring an item, you can drop it off and leave. All unclaimed items will be taken to the dump at the end of the event.

This is a totally free event, which means you can't bring items to sell — but you could come at the end of the event to pick up items and resell them at your leisure.
In general, anything you bring should be in working order. Most items will be accepted, but there are exceptions. No TVs, old propane tanks, or satellite dishes, for example. You can find a full list of acceptable items here.
