Man Accused Of Groping Girl At Renton Walmart Caught

RENTON, WA - A 40-year-old man suspected of groping a girl at the Renton Walmart last December has been arrested, according to reports. Remy Amon was captured near the Canadian border in Vermont and is being held in jail there on multiple charges, including child molestation and attempted luring.

On Dec. 10, a 10-year-old girl said an older man cornered her at the Renton Walmart and then groped her. A similar incident happened a few days later at the Federal Way Walmart.

The girl told police that the suspect had followed her around the store. The girl found herself alone in an aisle with her cousin, which is when the he started touching her. Police said a 5-year-old girl reported being approached by a man at the Walmart Sunday night. The man offered the girl cookies.

"Officers reviewing security video footage could not locate footage of the groping but did locate video of the same man following yet another young girl in the store just prior to the 2:00 PM event. The video shows the girl and man having some contact and conversation before the man followed the girl offscreen. We would like to identify the girl to assure she is safe," Renton police said in a press release last December.

Amon's arrest was first reported Thursday by Q13 and Washington's Most Wanted.
