Renton Mother Killed By Tree Identified

The tree fell on the woman's car. Another adult woman and a toddler were also injured.

RENTON, WA - The woman who died in Renton Monday night when a tree fell on her car was identified Tuesday by the King County Medical Examiner as Deidra Clark, 34. Clark's twin sister, Deitra Clark, 33, was in in the passenger and was seriously injured. Clark's toddler was in the back seat, but escaped with minor injuries.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. in unincorporated King County east of the Fairwood Country Club. Neighbors in the area heard a loud crash and came outside to find a large tree across the front passenger section of the car. The tree was estimated to be 30 inches in diameter, and fell from a height of about 15 feet, according to King County Sgt. Jason Houck.

Bystanders were able to free the 4-year-old toddler from the car, but were unable to help the Clark and her sister.

King County deputies and firefighters were able to cut the tree off the car to remove Deitra Clark. The sheriff's office reported she suffered from "obvious injuries to her lower extremities and possible internal injuries." She and the toddler were taken to Harborview.

KING5 reported the toddler's name is A-myracle.

Traffic detectives are investigating the incident, but do not believe anyone was at fault.
