Renton Residents Warned Of Nighttime Burglaries: Police

RENTON, WA - Renton police are warning residents of a rash of similar burglaries that have occurred recently. The burglar or burglars are hitting homes in the Renton Highlands area, according to police. The burglaries have been taking place at night while people are home.

According to police, the thief is crawling through open windows - kitchen windows in particular, police reported - and taking items like purses and car keys. The thief will then drive off in the homeowner's car.

"We are starting to get reports again in the Renton Highlands of night time occupied burglaries. The burglar's MO is to crawl in an open kitchen window, take purses and car keys and leave in the home owner's car," Renton police wrote in a Facebook post Thursday.

Police are asking residents to lock doors and windows at night, even with temperatures set to hit close to 90 degrees over the Labor Day weekend. The department has not developed a suspect description yet, and is asking anyone who sees something suspicious to call 911 immediately.
