Simple Ways To Create Mindfulness Within Your Home

A mindful day at home can help you feel more relaxed, focused, and energized . Creating a better you to share with the world.

Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment and paying attention to your surroundings as well as what you are feeling inside. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can create elevated benefits for your mind and body.

Here are some tips for having a mindful day at home:

  • Mindful breathing: Take a few minutes to focus on your breath. You can focus on the sensation of the air as it enters and leaves your nostrils, or the rising and falling of your breath in your belly or chest. Whatever feels right for you. Set a reminder on your phone, or write down on paper a reflection that causes you to pause before performing varied activities.
  • Mindful cleaning: Turn your cleaning routine into a mindfulness practice. Focus on the task at hand and the sensations you experience while cleaning. Pay attention to the sound of the water, the smell of the soap, and the feeling of the surfaces you’re cleaning. You may also attempt to clean in silence, to aid you in staying present in the moment.
  • Mindful cooking: Cooking can be a great way to practice mindfulness. Focus on the ingredients you’re using, the smells, and the sounds of the food cooking. Attempt to stay present, and fully enjoy the process.
  • Mindful movement: Incorporate mindful movement into your day. This can be anything from yoga to stretching to a simple walk around the block. Think of the sensations you feel in your body as you move along.
  • Mindful relaxation: Take some time to relax and unwind. This can be anything from reading a book to taking a bath to simply sitting and doing nothing. Whatever you choose to do stay present in that moment, so that you are aware of all that is occurring.
