Suspect In Custody After Hit-And-Run Crash

RENTON, WA - Police have a suspect in custody following a three-car hit-and-run crash. The Friday evening collision occurred at the intersection of Benson Drive S and SE 172nd Street. No one was injured in the incident. Drivers should expect delays in the area.

Police said witnesses reported one of the cars in the crash - which was on fire - fled the scene going northbound on Benson Drive S near S 21st Street. Police pursued the suspect who refused to stop and allegedly drove recklessly into oncoming traffic at a speed of about 10 mph.

The officer pursuing the suspect successfully performed a PIT maneuver to get the fleeing car to stop. The suspect was found to be under the influence of alcohol and booked into jail, according to police.

The mixed-use commercial/residential neighborhood is near a Public Storage facility.
