The killing may have stemmed from a dispute between Hobbs and two brothers. According to a police report, the brothers believed Hobbs was involved in a non injury shooting at the brothers' uncle's house.
On the afternoon of Nov. 30, Hobbs and a friend met with one of the brothers (the one who was arrested in Bellevue) at a Subway in the Renton Highlands. They discussed settling a "beef," and Hobbs reportedly offered to settle the matter with a fistfight, but specifically said "no guns."
Later that night, Hobbs went to the Aberdeen Avenue apartment complex to meet the two brothers. Surveillance cameras showed Hobbs and two men engaged in an argument, and then Hobbs is attacked by the two men. The two men punch Hobbs and chase him around the parking lot of the apartment complex. At one point, Hobbs can be seen crawling toward a stairwell. That's when one of the men approaches and shoots Hobbs at close range.
Hobbs was shot up to six times, according to the police report.
A woman living at the apartment complex heard the shots and went outside with her own gun to confront the shooters. She saw a single man standing in the parking lot near a blue Chevrolet Tahoe.
The suspect arrested Friday denied having any involvement in the shooting. But police found evidence linking the man's Tahoe and a gun found in his home to the scene of the crime.
