RENTON, WA — Police have released an update on the man captured on video trying to break into local homes while carrying a rifle. The suspect has not been identified, but police did detain and question at least one person about the incident.

According to Newcastle police Chief Jason Houck, police spoke to a man this week about the attempted break-ins. He was arrested, but on a charge unrelated to the break-ins. Houck did report that there have been no new incidents involving the rifle-toting man that police are aware of.

"Because this is an active investigation where we are still looking for a suspect, a lot of the info we have can't be put out," Houck said.

The man hit three homes along Hoquiam Avenue in Renton early Monday morning, between about 2 and 3:30 a.m. He also tried to get into a home along Southeast 86th Street in Newcastle.

Houck said police are "throwing a lot of resources" at the investigation. You can see surveillance images of the suspect here.
