TODAY: Dino's Pub Hosts Benefit For Bill Donckers

Bill Donckers, a 1969 graduate of Renton High School and former NFL player, continues to battle Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His daughter, Jamie Donckers-Shearer has organized a benefit fundraiser to help cover her father's growing medical bills. The event will be at Dino's Pub in Kennydale on Sunday, August 19 starting at 2 p.m. Here’s a note from her fundraising website:

Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 7 years ago. His first round of treatments put him into remission for about a year and then the cancer returned. Over the last 5 years, he has been battling a recurring bout. The latest Chemo/radiation treatment Bill endured did not put the cancer into remission, like we hoped, but for some reason only made the tumor grow. Bill is currently using several Naturopathic treatments to build up his immune system, help with pain level and increase his overall health. At this point, because the pain is unmanageable for Bill and naturopathic methods work slower than traditional treatments they are further investigating the Zevalin shot which has a good success rate of shrinking/eradicating the tumor.

Bill is a loving husband, father, and friend. He is not able to work due to his condition and treatment needed to fight this. Barb and Bill are fighting hard every day to get Bill cancer free and the mounting bills are a worry we would like to take away from them. We can't change this disease, but we can change how they fight it!
