United Way Offering Free Food Delivery To Local Families In Need
Under the program, DoorDash delivery drivers will bring food to King County households struggling due to the pandemic.
SEATTLE, WA — Residents of King County in need of support may find some with a new program from the local chapter of the United Way.
All this month, The United Way of King County will be delivering free boxes of food to families and households that are struggling to stay afloat amid the coronavirus pandemic. To qualify for the free assistance, applicants only need to:
- Live in King County
- Be unable to access their local food bank in person
- Be unable to afford groceries
Applicants do not need to provide their immigration or documentation status to receive support. The United Way says their only goal is to help serve everyone in need, regardless of their immigration status.

The program offers food deliveries on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The program contacts Doordash drivers, who will then deliver present variety cases of food from local food banks. The Untied Way says the cases carry all sorts of foods including canned meals, fruit and veggies, as well as pasta and other various sundries. Right now the program cannot customize orders to meet specific allergy or dietary needs, but they are working to add that feature over the month.
Interested residents can sign up for the program online, or by calling 2-1-1 on their phones.
