Video: Police Stop Man From Jumping Off Southcenter Mall Garage

Tukwila and Kent police grabbed a suicidal man before he could jump off a parking garage at Westfield Southcenter.

TUKWILA, WA - A group of local police grabbed a man who tried to jump off a parking garage at the Southcenter Mall on Sunday. In a video released by Tukwila police, the man can be seen dangling off the side of the garage, which is located at the south side of the Westfield Southcenter mall near the Sears store.

According to Tukwila police, officers were talking with the man for hours before he crawled out on the ledge of the garage and attempted to jump. The man was on the third level of the garage.

"[Three] Tukwila Officers and a Kent Officer negotiated for two hours with an adult male in crisis who was threatening to jump off a parking structure. The male crawled out onto the ledge in an attempt to jump after negotiation attempts were unsuccessful at which time officers moved in and pulled him to safety," the department wrote in a Facebook post.
