You Don't Have To Depend On Your Arm
The biggest obstacle to learning tennis quickly is that most tennis instructors teach beginning students to hit with their arms and it leads to all kinds of inconsistencies.
Your arm does not weigh as much as your body. Your arm is a lot more unstable than your torso. Instability leads to uncertainty and an inability to repeat certain actions over and over again.
It is my contention that the arm and the hand should be considered as a placeholder that is propelled by the body by way of the torso. The torso is a large group of muscles and bone that is more likely to stay in the same place. You twist your torso from one side to the other and that makes the racket move from front to back. The faster you move the torso the faster the racket swings and the harder your hits will be.
You will find that your hits will be a lot more consistent doing it this way.
