2 Pedestrians Die In Separate Crashes In Seattle, Maple Valley
Both pedestrians died Friday night in dark, rainy conditions at busy intersections.
SEATTLE, WA - Two pedestrians died Friday night in separate crashes in Seattle and Maple Valley, according to police. Both crashes were reported within minutes of each other and occurred along busy roads in dark, rainy conditions.
In Seattle, one pedestrian died around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Lake City Way and Northeast 85th Street, according to Seattle 911 records. The victim was hit by two different cars, according to police. The 75-year-old and 54-year old drivers were not impaired.
About 35 miles southeast in Maple Valley, a woman was killed crossing at SR 169 and Southeast 253rd Place around the same time. That intersection connects housing developments to the busy Maple Valley Highway, but there's no crosswalk there. The King County Sheriff's Office said that the driver remained at the scene and was likely not impaired.

Seattle police were rerouting traffic around the Lake City Way scene around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
