2 Remaining Seattle American Apparel Stores May Close Soon
The bankrupt retailer is operating under a 100-day license to keep the stores open, according to reports.

SEATTLE, WA - The two remaining Seattle American Apparel locations may close in a few months, according to reports. The chain's remaining stores in the area are located along Broadway on Capitol Hill and in the University District. A downtown Seattle location has already closed.
The Canadian company Gildan Activewear recently bought the American Apparel brand in a bankruptcy sale for $88 million. The Los Angeles Times reported last week that Gildan would shut down the company's manufacturing facilities in the Los Angeles area, as well as the remaining 110 retail stores.
However, the Gildan purchase did not include the retail stores, which means they may remain open for a little while longer. An American Apparel spokesperson told Business Insider on Tuesday that the stores could remain open for another 100 days under license from Gildan. After the license runs out, however, the stores may close.

Before the bankruptcy, American Apparel was known for making its clothes entirely in the U.S., and for salacious ad campaigns targeted at teens and 20-somethings. The retailer had an additional Seattle-area location at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, which closed two years ago.
