$230 Million For Washington In Draft Senate Appropriations Bills

Sen. Patty Murray's office said Washington could receive nearly twice as much funding from this year's Senate appropriations bills.

WASHINGTON — Draft versions of Senate appropriations bills for the next fiscal year include $230 million in federal funding for Washington projects, including millions to improve fish habitats and complete other infrastructure projects across the state. Sen. Patty Murray's office released a list of projects that will receive funding pending final passage of the bills.

Murray is the second-highest ranking Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee and said the current level of proposed funding for Washington is nearly double of last year.

The bills include funding for several projects around Western Washington, including new electrical infrastructure for Tacoma's Mary Bridge Hospital, a solar array for the Lake Washington Insitute of Technology in Kirkland, and more than $10 million for the Army Corps of Engineers to improve fish passage at the Mud Mountain Dam.
