I-5 Reopens In Lakewood After 3 Die In Crash
The crash was causing major delays along both northbound and southbound I-5.

LAKEWOOD, WA - A DUI driver caused a crash early Thursday morning on southbound I-5 at Bridgeport Way that resulted in three deaths. According to Washington State Patrol, the driver will also be charged with hit and run, possession of a stolen firearm, and three counts of vehicular homicide. A secondary crash followed when a driver struck debris.
The dual crashes left most northbound lanes and all southbound lanes closed. There was a 12-mile backup near the crash scene around 6 a.m., but all lanes south and northbound lanes had reopened by 8 a.m. Thursday.
Police are continuing to investigate the wreck. (For more local news, click here to sign up for real-time news alerts and newsletters from Lakewood, click here to find your local Washington Patch. Also, follow us on Facebook, and if you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app.)
