Air Quality Now 'Very Unhealthy' Across Puget Sound
The air has gone beyond "unhealthy" and into hazardous territory, according to the state Department of Ecology.

SEATTLE, WA - Air quality is now considered "very unhealthy" in much of Puget Sound, according to air quality readings from the state Department of Ecology. Very unhealthy air is one step up from "unhealthy," and one step below the worst rating of "hazardous."
Air monitoring stations from Puyallup to Lynnwood were showing "very unhealthy" air quality. But the air quality was slightly better - just plain "unhealthy" - in Bellevue and North Bend. On Tuesday, air quality was lower than Wednesday morning's readings.
The entire region is under an air quality alert until Wednesday at 5 p.m., and a stage 1 burn ban remains in effect in Snohomish, King, and Pierce counties. A shift in weather should push wildfire smoke out of the region beginning Wednesday night.
