Alaska Airlines Announces Carry-On Size Change

The airline will now only allow smaller carry-on luggage starting in June.

SEATTLE, WA - Alaska Airlines has announced that beginning June 4, the size for carry-on luggage will be smaller, requiring passengers to check in their bags more frequently. The new maximum carry-on size will be 22 x 14 x 9. The current maximum size is 24 x 17 x 10.

"We’re giving you advance notice of this change so that you’ll have time to make adjustments to your packing plans now," the airline said on its website. "Don’t worry - you’ll still be allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item such as a purse, briefcase, or laptop bag."

The airline said it's changing the baggage policy to fit in with the existing regulations of other airlines. This means passengers won't have to check their bags on connecting flights.
