Amazon 'Jobs Day' Event Aims To Hire 50,000 New Workers

Amazon will be handing out job offers and giving tours of fulfillment centers at 12 locations across the U.S. on Wednesday.

SEATTLE, WA — Amazon will open the doors of 10 of its fulfillment centers across the U.S. on Wednesday as part of the company's first "Jobs Day" hiring event. The company is aiming to hire about 50,000 full-time and part-time employees across the nation the week and will be handing out "on-the-spot" job offers on Wednesday.

Amazon's Jobs Day runs from 8 a.m. to noon local time Wednesday. Anyone interested in a job can show up at a fulfillment center for a tour (there is a dress code) and apply. The company is advising applicants to bring ID and other information to fill out hiring paperwork.

Here's where Amazon will be hosting Jobs Day events on Wednesday:

In January, Amazon announced that it would hire 100,000 workers across the U.S. through 2018. Full-time workers can get benefits like health insurance and retirement savings. Amazon also offers full-time workers a benefit called "Career Choice," which pays up to 95 percent of the cost of tuition for an in-demand field, like nursing or IT careers.
