For 21 years, Tasveer has been where South Asian cinema finds its audience. This October, it happens again.
Tasveer is North America's premier South Asian film gathering and the world's first and only Oscar ® qualifying South Asian film festival. From October 13 to 18, 2026, the 21st annual edition brings together the Film Festival and the Film Market, amplifying stories from across South Asia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tibet, and the diaspora that carries them worldwide.
Tasveer Film Festival brings six days of bold cinema, post-screening conversations that run long, and workshops and panels that fill the rooms between films. This year's submissions carried a shift worth noting, women telling deeply personal stories in their own voices, animation arriving with real force, and a rise favoring films that show rather than tell.
The Tasveer Film Market, North America's first South Asian-focused global market, aims to transform the funding and distribution model for filmmakers. Featuring a Co-Production Market, Tasveer Film Fund pitches with Netflix, industry panels, networking sessions, and many more, this groundbreaking initiative seeks to empower filmmakers to thrive in a competitive landscape, while contributing to the growth and sustainability of the film industry ecosystem and boosting the creative economy. Our goal is to create a sustainable ecosystem for diverse storytelling while bridging industry gaps for historically marginalized voices.
