SR 99 Bridge In Seattle Down Two Lanes For Roadwork
The Aurora Avenue Bridge will drop down to one lane in each direction again starting Friday night for paving and repairs.

SEATTLE, WA — Your options are rain and smooth sailing along SR 99 in Seattle, or no rain and a traffic headache along SR 99 in Seattle.
WSDOT is planning to close the southbound side of the Aurora Avenue Bridge between Fremont and Queen Anne on Friday night for repaving and other repair work. That means just one lane of travel in each direction across the bridge.
But the work, which we've seen twice before this summer already, requires dry weather, according to WSDOT.

"When we repave a bridge deck, we need to put down a waterproof layer to keep the deck in good shape. We need dry weather for 24 hours before and after we place the waterproofing. With the new waterproof layer in place, we can put down new asphalt," WSDOT explained in a blog post.
As of Friday, there's no rain in the forecast for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service, so it might be best to prepare to detour around the work. WSDOT recommends drivers heading through Seattle use I-5. For trips across the Aurora bridge, walk or take a bike.

The Aurora lanes will close beginning at 7 p.m. Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
