Bicyclist Dies In Collision With Car In Ballard

The crash happened early Sunday morning along Seaview Avenue south of Shilshole Marina.

SEATTLE, WA - A bicyclist died early Sunday morning in a collision with a driver along a Ballard street. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. along Seaview Avenue south of Golden Gardens Park.

The victim, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was evaluated for impairment at the scene, but was not arrested, police said.

The stretch of Seaview Avenue where the collision occurred runs parallel to the Burke Gilman Trail.

This is the third cyclist death over the last 12 months. Last January, Ronacin Tjhung died while biking along Martin Luther King Jr. Way. He was headed to his job at the University of Washington. Celso Diaz died in Sodo in November in a hit-and-run crash with a Toyota Prius. Diaz was also biking to work.

The King County Medical Examiner's office had not released the bicyclist's name Sunday.
