Bike Everywhere Day Is Friday, Here's What To Expect

SEATTLE, WA — In Columbia City, it's free pancakes and bike tune-ups. In Bellevue it's freebies at Expedia headquarters. In Shoreline, it's free SWAG bags along the Interurban Trail.

But no matter where you go on Friday in Puget Sound, it's Bike Everywhere Day.

The culmination of Bike Everywhere Month in May, Bike Everywhere Day will feature small daylong events across the region. About 1oo "celebration stations" will offer freebies and other comforts to riders. In 2018, there were some 120 stations throughout the region, and an estimated 20,000 bikers participated in the day's festivities, according to the Cascade Bicycle Club.

"It's a great day to ride for the first time, because no matter where you're riding from, we'll be out there with you. Celebration stations and experienced riders along major routes will ensure that encouragement, support, and fun are never in short supply," the club said of the 2019 Bike Everywhere Day.

Drivers should expect to see more riders on local roads Friday. If you see a bicyclist, make sure to slow down and give them room — especially on side streets near local schools.

In addition to the celebration stations, there will be a few standalone parties happening around Puget Sound. One of the bigger events will be a party along the Redmond Connector beginning at 4 p.m. The party will feature food trucks, music, beer, and a kids bike rodeo. The Cascade Bicycle Club's main event will be happening 7 to 9 a.m. at the Nickerson Street Saloon at the foot of the Fremont Bridge.
