
Skyrie is a contemporary Scottish trio renowned for dynamic performances and innovative sound. They blend Scottish and Irish traditional songs, poignant original songs, dance tunes and soundscapes with modern influences from rock to funk. Based in Fife, Scotland the band comprises versatile composers and multi-instrumentalists Lesley Thompson Smith (Vocals, Fiddle, Pipes, Whistle and Looper), James “Jimmy” Anderson (Guitars, Pedal-Bass and Background Vocals), and Christopher Martin Smith (Vocals, Lyrics, Drums, Whistle and Percussion).
Having performed and recorded over many years with multi award-winning artists as diverse as renowned Scottish singer songwriter Dougie MacLean, Big Country, and Kathy Mattea, Skyrie has performed at diverse events such as at the world-renowned Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, and the Dundee New Year Hooley, and in such diverse places as Budapest, Cyprus, and the British Embassy in Kuwait.
The first set will be a concert, then we’ll push the chairs back, to finish the evening with a ceilidh dance! So come and bring your dancing shoes and kilt to the Phinney Center Thursday August 7, 7:30pm, for Skyrie!
