Children's Film Festival Seattle is back with hybrid event
CFFS 2022 will include almost 160 animated, live-action and documentary films from 43 nations, all centered on the experiences of childhood.

The 17th Annual Children’s Film Festival Seattle presents the Best in Global Children’s Cinema from February 11-20, 2022. The event offers nearly 160 animated and live-action films from 43 countries tailored for families to enjoy at home and in the theater. In-person screenings hosted at Northwest Film Forum; virtual screenings are pay-what-you-can, $5-$25 sliding-scale. Festival passes are also available for families and individuals.
The theme of this year’s festival is Celebration. “We see the need for youth and families to have some fun and celebrate the beauty in the world. We are excited to host a joyful extravaganza that will spark delight, discussion, and interest in different cultures and ways of life. We can’t wait to welcome patrons to this year’s festival!” says Sherrill.

CFFS 2022 FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS
- SPECIAL EVENTS: An opening night full of global celebrations, a closing night birthday party, storytime with KOMO 4 News Anchor and children's book author Tyrah Majors.
- PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES: Gentle animation for the youngest viewers and more action-packed fare appropriate for older kids and adults to create a lively intergenerational environment.
- YOUTH-MADE FILMS: The Ready to Roll and Peculiar Pictures short film programs each showcase the creativity and innovation of the world's future filmmakers.
- RAINBOW ROAR: An LGBTQIA+ shorts block celebrating kids who live in their authentic selves.
- PROMISE TO THE PLANET: A collection of environmental shorts that emphasizes the importance of taking care of our natural home.
- LANGUAGE-SPECIFIC CONTENT: Short film programs in Spanish and French for native speakers and language learners.
- MULTICULTURAL FEATURE FILMS: Nine exciting works from Netherlands, Norway, Argentina, Belgium, Singapore, and Germany.
- WORKSHOPS FOR YOUTH: All-ages offerings available both in person and online, covering topics of experimental film, documentary filmmaking, puppet making, and storytelling using recycled materials.
