Construction crews are demolishing the last four columns of the viaduct this week, putting a cap on several months of demolition work that has transformed Seattle's waterfront. Contractors will wrap up just north of Pike Place Market this week, then dismantle the crane and clear out. WSDOT said a few other loose ends need to be tied up, including some slope stabilization work, but the project will be largely complete.
Other construction work continues nearby, as Seattle builds new two-way bus lanes on Columbia Street. Early work to revamp the Alaskan Way surface street is slated to begin soon. Those who commute in the area can subscribe to WSDOT's weekly construction update emails.
