Cluster Of Outages Knocks Out Power In South Seattle, Skyway
Thousands of City Light customers were without power after three outages around southeast Seattle.

SEATTLE, WA — A trio of outages left at least 13,400 customers without power in the Rainier Valley, Skyway, and parts of Renton Friday afternoon. Seattle City Light said the cause for the outage was under investigation, and an early estimate for restoration was 5 p.m. An outage map on the utility's website showed large sections of power outages concentrated around stretches of Beacon Avenue South, Renton Avenue South and Rainier Avenue South.
The outage near Skyway was resolved by 2:30 p.m., and the outage near Seattle's Othello neighborhood was largely restored before 3 p.m. Almost 1,500 remained without power just west of Renton Municipal Airport.
Power was restored to all customers before 6 p.m.

An additional 2,500 customers have been brought back into service through step restoration. 7,090 remain without power. The cause is still being investigated, and the estimated time of restoration may be adjusted soon to reflect this.
