As someone who works closely with communities across the Pacific Northwest, I’ve seen firsthand how access to reliable internet and digital tools can create new opportunities for families, students, and small businesses. That’s why I’m proud Comcast recently partnered with El Centro de la Raza to open a new Lift Zone in Federal Way focused on helping South King County residents build digital skills and connect to critical online resources.

Located at El Centro de la Raza’s Federal Way facility, the new Lift Zone includes a $350,000 investment from Comcast to support facility and technology upgrades designed to expand digital learning and workforce development opportunities for the community.

The space now offers free high-speed 6GHz Xfinity WiFi, public computer workstations, digital literacy assistance, and flexible technology-enabled meeting areas for youth programming, academic enrichment, and family support services. Community members can also access hybrid digital skills training, workforce development workshops, and small business resources both in person and online.

One of the most impactful aspects of the program is the availability of on-site Digital Navigators who can help residents with internet access, device support, applying for public benefits, and building confidence using technology in everyday life.

For many families, digital access is no longer optional. It’s essential for education, employment, healthcare, and staying connected. Yet digital inequities still exist in many communities, including parts of South King County. Partnerships like this are intended to help close those gaps and ensure more residents have access to the tools they need to succeed.

El Centro de la Raza has served Washington communities for more than 50 years and currently provides dozens of programs and services supporting children, youth, families, and seniors. Comcast is honored to support that mission through this new Lift Zone initiative.

The Federal Way Lift Zone is part of Comcast’s broader Project UP initiative, which focuses on expanding digital opportunity through internet access, digital skills training, and community partnerships. Since 2020, Comcast has launched more than 1,250 Lift Zones nationwide.

Across Greater Seattle, Comcast has invested more than $7.4 million in cash and in-kind contributions over the past four years to help expand connectivity, digital education, and access to technology. Those efforts have supported dozens of local organizations working directly within their communities to help residents thrive in an increasingly digital world.
