Cooler, Cloudier Days Ahead For Puget Sound After Weekend Warmth

SEATTLE — After a beautiful and sunny weekend, Puget Sound is headed for cooler pastures this week, starting Monday, when afternoon temperatures are forecast to peak in the mid-60s around Seattle and Tacoma. According to the National Weather Service, a strong marine push will move into Western Washington Monday morning, allowing for some foggy patches and the chance for a few morning showers along the convergence zone.

Forecasters expect the clouds will stick around into Tuesday, keeping temperatures on the mild side throughout the region. The skies should begin to clear by late Tuesday afternoon, with slightly warmer temperatures and more sunshine expected Wednesday through Friday. Long-term forecasts suggest Friday will be the most summerlike day of the week before another cool-off — and potentially rain — arrives for the long Labor Day weekend

"Recent guidance continues to suggest that Friday will be the warmest day of the week - with afternoon highs across the interior making it into the mid 70s to low 80s," NWS Seattle wrote Sunday. "Latest guidance and ensemble data then indicate the return to a cooler and more unsettled pattern for the weekend as another weather system approaches, with more widespread shower chances possible. Plenty of discrepancies still exist among guidance at this time, so will need to stay tuned over the coming days to see how guidance resolves on a solution."
