Dow Constantine To Endorse Jenny Durkan Monday
King County's top politician will underscore Durkan's "experience of bringing people together to solve challenges."

SEATTLE, WA - King County's top elected official, King County Executive Dow Constantine, will endorse Seattle mayoral candidate Jenny Durkan at a press conference Monday morning, according to Durkan's campaign. Constantine's nod is among the most high-profile for Durkan, who recently gave back the endorsement of Ed Murray, the former Seattle mayor who resigned two weeks ago under allegations of child sex abuse.
Constantine will talk about Durkan's "long experience of bringing people together to solve challenges as well as her smart regional approach to tackling homelessness, housing, and transportation" in his endorsement, which will take place at the International District light rail station.
Durkan and challenger Cary Moon have been competing to be perceived as experts on issues like transportation, homelessness, housing, and workers' rights. For example, last week Durkan was endorsed by Transportation for Washington, which is a political action committee. But Moon has been endorsed by groups like the Transit Riders Union, The Urbanist, and Seattle Subway (none are PACs, however).

Monday's press conference with Constantine will focus on transit, according to Durkan's press release.
Constantine has been King County Executive since 2009 and, with Murray's exit, is probably the most influential local elected official. Constantine has considerable fundraising strength - his annual fundraiser luncheon in May, for example, drew a surprise appearance from former president Jimmy Carter.
