Ramirez was released Wednesday on bond from a detention facility in Tacoma.

TACOMA, WA — The Seattle-area DACA dreamer Daniel Ramirez Medina was released Wednesday on bond from an immigration detention facility in Tacoma.

An immigration court judge granted Ramirez's release on $15,000 bond on Tuesday. His immigration case will still proceed. Ramirez has been incarcerated in the Tacoma detention facility for almost 50 days.

Ramirez appeared with an attorney briefly outside the facility and said a few words about his recent experiences.

Ramirez, 24, was arrested in early February at his family's apartment in Des Moines. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers went to the home to arrest Ramirez's father. Federal officials have said they took Ramirez into custody because he has gang ties — a charge that both he and his lawyers dispute.

Ramirez came to the U.S. in 2001 when he was 7 years old and has no criminal record. Ramirez has been granted permission to live and work in the U.S. on two separate occasions under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
