Driver Fleeing Police Killed In Seattle Crash, SPD Says
According to police, the driver of an SUV was killed after speeding away from a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

SEATTLE, WA — Police say a driver sped away from a traffic stop — and had already crashed once — when he hit a semi-truck head-on along Airport Way South Tuesday morning. The driver of the SUV died at the scene; their passenger was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The road is still closed in both directions as traffic detectives investigate the incident.
According to police, an SPD patrol officer tried to pull over the SUV for a traffic violation on the 1000 block of 4th Avenue South, around 7 a.m. The driver sped off, drove through a red light, then crashed into a parked vehicle. SPD said officers did not chase the driver, but a few minutes later, the SUV was speeding southbound on Airport Way South when it crashed into a semi-truck near South Hinds Street. Police said the driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
