Emerald City Comicon: Celebrities From Jeremy Renner To Chewbacca In Seattle This Week

The Emerald City Comicon kicks off on Thursday and will feature everyone from Freddie Krueger to Chewbacca.

SEATTLE, WA - Anyone tall enough can put on a Chewbacca costume and do a passable impression of the iconic "Star Wars" character.

But there's only one real Chewie, and he's coming to the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle this weekend.

Peter Mayhew, the 7'4" British actor who played Chewbacca in the "Star Wars" films, will appear at the Pacific Northwest's largest pop culture celebration this weekend along with a number of other luminaries.

Here are all the panel events featuring well known celebrities appearing in Seattle this weekend:

  • Jeremy Renner: Hawkeye from the "Avengers" films will answer fan questions about the popular Marvel franchise. March 3, 6:30 p.m.
  • Sean Gunn and Michael Rooker: Two of the stars of "Guardians of the Galaxy" will talk about the new film in the series coming out this year. March 3, 6:30 p.m.
  • Peter Mayhew: Chewbacca himself will talk about his experience as an actor in the "Star Wars" franchise. March 4, 11 a.m.
  • Evangeline Lilly: The "Lost" and "Ant-Man" star will talk about her films and her "Squickerwonkers" series. March 4, 12:15 p.m.
  • Robert Englund: Don't fall asleep on this one. Freddie Krueger from the the "Nightmare On Elm Street" series talks horror. March 4, 2:45 p.m.
  • Tom Felton: Draco Malfoy from the "Harry Potter" films will talk about how much fans love to hate his character. March 5, 1:30 p.m.
  • Vincent D'Onofrio: You either know him as Private Pyle, Edgar (and his Edgar suit), Kingpin, or Detective Robert Goren - or any of the other countless characters he's played. March 5, 4 p.m.

Each year, Emerald City Comicon attracts close to 100,000 sci-fi, comic book, and pop culture fans to the Washington State Convention Center in downtown Seattle. The event kicks off Thursday at 2 p.m. and ends Sunday. You can get tickets here.
